In or Out of the Body:

A Look at the Choices of Mediumship in Work and Life

I recently listened to an Internet radio show where a life coach was discussing a personal growth and change modality with the radio talk show personality and audience.  It was a popular format of discussion, question and answer for about an hour. Suddenly about half way through I heard something that really caught my attention. The life coach said something like this, “When I am working with my modality, there is something that seems to come through me or over me that is different from my daily regular personality. When that happens other’s wisdoms come through me.  It is not my wisdom but something or someone else’s and I often cannot remember what I said after it was said.”

The coach on the radio show was describing the experience of “Mediumship” and it is a faculty possessed by every human. Though in different ways, it basically consists of catching vibrations, thought waves, or a transmission of information or energy from a nonphysical source and relying it though one’s own body.

This begs the questions, “Is it best to work with our clients and live our lives while we are in our own body or is it better to become a vessel and allow something else to run our client sessions and lives: out of our body or while sharing our body?"
Let’s take a closer look.  When we give our body over to mediumship it is kin to buying a car and then allowing someone else to drive it around. The body we have is, in a way, our vehicle to live life through.  Although mediumship may sound like fun there are actually many dangers involved.  Most mediums do not consciously choose who or what they are allowing in to be with them or there intead of them.  They simply hope or assume that it is an entity or vibration that is in their highest good and that it is safe for them, and that it matches or enhances (instead of disrupting) their own personal energy vibration.

If you find mediumship in your space, some good question to ask are : How does it feel for the hours, days or weeks after the entity or vibration leaves, both emotionally and physically, in your body?   Is life happier or healthier?  How is sleep? How are eating habits afterwards? Do you feel emotionally and mentally stable? Are you able to exercise or do you feel physically drained? If you notice that you seem to feel great when you are involved in mediumship and much less so when you are not, it may simply be because it is not helpful/healthful for your body to host another being.  The residue it leaves behind for you may be too challenging to prosess. As your body was created for your spirit alone, hense it is your body and does not belong to another, you may decide to take back charge of your body for only you and for good.

Reasons that you may want to live your life fully, and only, in your body are many.  The first is that you acquired your body for you to live and grow on the planet.  It is yours from birth, a gift perhaps.  Karma is fullfiled using the body. Another reason is that what you learn, and how you evolve, is owned by you.  The wisdom that you acquire is yours to grow from and share.  Inside your body, is the safest place on the planet for your spiritto be.  Your body contains many tools and senses for navigating that being out of the body does not.  It is also important to consider the other areas of your life.  If you allow mediumship to take place in your coaching life, you may also be allowing it to take place in other areas of your life that you do not desire.  It is good to look at areas of your life that you may harbor addictions, depression, or outbursts.  Many purport that addictions, depression, or outbursts are nothing more than mediumship happening.  Remembering, whatever your body does,  in mediumship or by you alone, you alone are the  one accountable and responsible for the actions of your body, in the end, regardless of whatever or whomever, actually created the action.

Here are some steps for getting back in the body and staying there:

1-    Get grounded and stay grounded.  For some this means daily exercising, eating healthy, and sleeping well.

2-    Choose meditation forms that have you sitting erect with a straight spine and feet planted flat on the floor.  Practice this meditation each day, for 20 minutes, staying awake and alert even with eyes closed.

3-    Own your personal space with strength and fortitude. From energy follows thought and action.  Bring your own personal strength out from deep within and continue on in the face of adversity with this personal strength.  Strength of mind as well as body is needed.

4-    Be content with exactly who you are.  Know that you are perfectly you and needed just as you are on the planet, now.  Knowing and accepting oneself and one's gifts as well as one's weaknesses.

5-    Be grateful to your body for providing your spirit housing.
